David and Nikki met in 2008 while working with a peer mentor program at Lincoln Memorial University. It took a while for the timing to be right, and they finally reconnected in the winter of 2015 over a mutual love of silliness, food, arguing about where to get food, God, and family.
After a short summer of dating (because sometimes you just know when it's right!), David proposed on September 4th, 2015. Not visibly nervous at all, he had planned a walk around Greenfield Lake in Maryville, Tennessee, a place where he and Nikki had taken several romantic walks before. Following a fun script of cards, they talked about their future and some of their favorite moments as a couple, before David popped the question on a wooden bridge in the middle of the lake as the sun was setting.
We are so excited to begin our lives together, and so happy that you are sharing in our journey!
"I think we are one of those couples with a long story when people ask us how we found each other...it's gonna take a long time. And then it's perfect,"
